Tech Team
The Area 79 Tech Team supports the Area Chair in hosting and running the online portion of Area 79’s hybrid events. The team manages the online meeting platform and connects with online attendees directly, so that participants joining remotely have as smooth an experience as those in the room.
Tech Team Lead
The Tech Team Lead ensures a smooth technical experience for participants at Area 79’s hybrid events, and leads the volunteers who support that work.
Duties
- Serve as virtual meeting host for Area 79’s hybrid events, managing the technical flow of the meeting from open to close.
- Lead the Tech Team volunteers for each event – assigning tasks, training new members and coordinating scheduling to ensure each event is adequately covered.
- Communicate with the Area Chair on event requirements and debrief afterward.
- Coordinate with the Registrar to get the information needed to set up the meeting for each event.
- Is not responsible for sourcing AA literature or links, tracking or reporting vote counts, explaining business procedure, or refereeing disagreements among participants. The role is limited to hosting the technical/online portion of the event, not its content or conduct.
- Play back videos or presentations for the physical meeting room when it can’t be done by presenters directly.
Qualifications
- Comfortable and experienced with virtual meeting software, including breakout rooms, co-hosting, and screen sharing.
- Strong organizational skills and clear communication.
- Available for all four Area event days (Tuesday & Friday evenings, Saturday, and Sunday), plus time for prep beforehand and debrief afterward.
- Reliable internet connection
Tech Team Volunteer
Tech Team Volunteers support the Tech Team Lead in hosting the technical/online portion of Area 79’s hybrid events, handling day-to-day participant management.
Duties
- Support the Tech Team Lead with participant management during the event — things like renaming attendees, moving people between breakout rooms, and spotlighting speakers.
- Post housekeeping messages and provide minor technical support to participants as needed.
- Take direction from the Tech Team Lead on assigned tasks for each event.
Quilifications
- All training will be provided.
- Available for the four Area event days (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), plus time for prep beforehand and debrief afterward.
