MEETINGS
There are more than 700 AA groups in BC/Yukon Area 79.
Meetings are listed here at the group’s own request. A listing does not constitute or imply approval or endorsement of any meeting’s approach to, or practice of, the traditional AA program.

There are meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous all over the world. To find meetings outside of Area 79, visit the A.A. World Services Website.
There are many different types of meetings available in Alcoholics Anonymous. There are ‘Open’ and ‘Closed’ meetings, as well as meetings for isolated members.

Open meetings are available to anyone interested in Alcoholics Anonymous’ program of recovery from alcoholism. Non-alcoholics may attend open meetings as observers.
Closed meetings are for AA members only, of for those who have a drinking problem and “have a desire to stop drinking”.
Remote Communities meetings assist members who may be faced with travel or geographic challenges, or may face barriers such as language, cultural considerations, and/or anything else that could separate someone who needs AA from our lifesaving program of recovery.
Singleness of Purpose and Problems Other than Alcohol
Some professionals refer to alcoholism and drug addiction as “substance abuse” or “chemical dependency”. Non-Alcoholics are, therefore, sometimes introduced to AA and encouraged to attend AA meetings. Anyone may attend open AA meetings, but only those with a drinking problem may attend closed AA meetings.
